Functions can be added to Mambo* by installing plugins - using the Universal Installer from Mambo* 4.6+. Technically, plugins can be one of three types, but all are installed in the same way:

You can greatly modify the appearance of a Mambo* site by changing the template that is in use. The content will be preserved, but it may be rearranged by a different template. Images, colours, typefaces, type sizes call all be altered by a template. Templates are installed using the Universal Installer (Mambo* 4.6 and beyond). They are managed through the admin interface, "Site" menu, "TemplateManager" submenu. |

SEF extensions for Mambo components - both core and selected third party. Each of these contains a sef_ext.php file that will work with the Mambo 4.6 SEF facilities if they are activated and configured to be aware of the relevant component. PLEASE NOTE that most of these will work ONLY after the Mambo 4.6 patch number 2 has been applied to Mambo 4.6 RC1. The patch file is available on request from Martin Brampton.
